Ezz Steel Rebar selected Danieli Automation for a key revamping project to enhance performance and productivity of rolling mill #2, focusing only on the control system. The intervention did not involve any mechanical parts, just software and hardware.

The original control system, based on S5 PLCs, has been replaced by the new S7 PLCs aligned with the newest Danieli Automation control system dedicated to rolling mills.

The new process control system includes Level 1 software functions for mill speed control and tracking, together with new HMI systems, strengthened by the engineering and maintenance tools for PLC and HMI applications, including FDA Fast Data Analyzer for on-line and historical analysis of main plant parameters.

Thanks to the new automatic process control, which includes the tracking function, recording and faults analysis, the rolling mill productivity increased by 5%, as well as an important increase in the plant yield, now estimated from 94 % to 95.5 %.

The availability of ESR team made possible to finalize the revamping operations in 10 days only.
