Cognor has chosen Danieli Automation Q-ONE patented technology to feed the existing EAF of 48 t capacity installed in Stalowa Wola plant in Poland, replacing the existing furnace transformer.

In an increasingly difficult market, with growing costs of prime materials, steel producers need an OPEX reduction and innovative technologies to be a step ahead of competition.

Q-ONE, even when applied to existing systems, is able to reduce electrical energy consumption and electrode consumption, providing a shorter power-on time, with limited electrical disturbances and a power factor close to the unity on the MV distribution, avoiding the use of compensation systems.

On top of this Q-ONE can open new process opportunities, having the capacity to control in real time arc current and frequency. All these features result in increased productivity using the same available network feeder.

The Q-ONE system for Cognor is scheduled to go in production in summer 2023.

With this new order the number of Q-ONE references becomes 16, with individual power outputs up to 200MW, and represents a reconfirmation of the interest that steel producers have for Q-ONE technology, a real breakthrough in steel making!
